This painting was the winning entry of the Ellenbrook Art Awards 2016.
In 1980 I was invited to go prospecting in the Gascoyne/Murchison region of Western Australia predominantly around Sandstone but also venturing right up to Tom Price in the Pilbara. We spent a couple of months at a time living in remote areas in a tent and it was an opportunity I feel very blessed to have had. Harsh and desolate in places, the desert is full of life and stunningly beautiful. Once the red dirt gets into one's blood you are tied to it forever.
